INTERCULTURA'S SUMMER
BEACH AND CITY
ADVENTURE
SPANISH CAMP FOR TEENS
Are you looking to explore the world?
Travel with a group of kids your
own age to an exotic destination?
Have more fun learning Spanish than you could ever have imagined?
Come back from an adventure this summer that you will never forget... go snorkeling; catch a glimpse of humpback whales; study "Ser y Estar" in a beautiful tropical beach paradise before going out dancing at an open air lounge right on the beach; look at the stars and listen to the waves crash around you; eat s'mores around a bonfire; discover the vibrant music scene in the city of San José; ride horses in the ocean; do a Tarzan jump and a canopy tour zip-line through the rain forest; sunbathe, play soccer and hang out with the locals ... what better way can you think of to spend your summer than in Costa Rica?
Every summer Intercultura Costa Rica offers a Spanish Adventure immersion program for teens which allows adolescents to learn Spanish and immerse themselves in Costa Rican culture. In addition to intensive Spanish classes, our teen summer program offers a variety of fun, chaperoned adventure activities, which will immerse teen students in the local culture and expose them to the amazing variety of wildlife and eco-systems in Costa Rica.
Intercultura Teen Spanish & Adventure Camp takes place between late July and early August in a 2 week session which combines beach and city stays. Teens arrive at and leave from San José International airport (SJO) in Costa Rica on the dates indicated below. From there, the adventure begins as teens are taken to their new host family in the colonial city of Heredia, where they meet their chaperones and Tica host mother. The second week, teens stay at a hotel residence in Sámara Beach (with swimming pool, cable TV and Jacuzzi).
From Monday to Friday, teens take 3.5 hours of Spanish classes per day with our fully credentialed professors, who have been specially trained to teach adolescents in a fun, communicative and real-life context, using the Intercultura textbooks designed specifically for adolescent learners. Classes take place at our beautiful colonial city campus in Heredia and at our beachfront tropical campus (with air-conditioned classrooms) in Sámara.
In the remaining half of the days, teens engage in activities such as surf classes, coffee plantation tour, horse-riding, hiking through rain forest to swim and visit waterfalls, beach bike-ride, community service activities, ecological hikes, canopy zip line tours, bonfires and music on the beach, Latin dance and evening outings, arts & crafts class, and more. On weekends, students visit the highlights of Costa Rica, such as the live Arenal Volcano; Monteverde rainforest; and Manuel Antonio Beach and National Park. Weekends provide a mix of tour activities and free time to shop, eat and meet & mingle with the locals.
Camp facilities include:
Beachfront and colonial city campuses with free Internet, optional wireless (extra cost), tropical gardens, hammocks, study and social areas, language lab, fully-equipped classrooms, dance studio, stage, TV room, football and volleyball on the beach, outdoor showers to rinse off after a quick swim between classes, and our friendly multi-lingual support staff!

Dear Stacey,
We would be pleased to be a reference for other families considering this program.
Nikki (Dutta) really enjoyed her time in Costa Rica. She loved the country, her
host family experience and all the wonderful side trips that were made to explore the
different attractions. She gained a level of vocabulary and confidence in speaking
Spanish that will serve her well in the coming year with Spanish III in high school.
Kudos to the program organizers, the chaperones and the “admin-customer service”
staff who all did a fabulous job in being warmly responsive and accurate in
all the information.
Sincerely,
Bonnie

Hi Stacey!
Just wanted to thank you and your colleagues so much. Kyle had such a fabulous two weeks in costa rica!! I think it was a wonderful experience for him. He couldn't stop talking on the way home from the airport. I have already told several of my friends what a great language camp you have and to consider it for their kids.
Thanks again, Amy Larson

Hi Lisa. My wife and I are huge fans of the Intercultura program. One or both of our daughters have gone for the last 3 years. Our second started at 13 years old. (They are now in 10th and 12th grades). Both girls loved the program. They made a lot of friends, participated in lots of fun activities, and learned a huge amount of Spanish. Each daughter has been taking honors or AP spanish in school since and has done exceedingly well -- which I attribute in no small part to their Intercultura experiences. (read more)
