Budding young composers can submit original compositions for consideration. All entries receive comments and two are chosen to be orchestrated and premiered at our Youth Concerts.

Scholarships for Private Lessons
Students in financial need receive private lessons with the help of KSO and volunteer League support.

Coaches – Junior Symphony ensembles and schools
KSO musicians share their high-level expertise by coaching student ensembles or sections.

Arts Technology Lab/Music for Life Class Partner
High school students participating in the Education for the Arts' Music for Life class receive support from the KSO through musical equipment and faculty.

Lessons with Artists-in-Residence at Crescendo Academy of Music

Student Performers Showcase
Student ensembles are invited to perform in the lobby, and then attend a KSO Symphonic Series concerts with complimentary tickets.

Talented students are heard on WMUK public radio through the joint effort of the station, local arts organizations including KSO, and arts leaders.

Side by Side with Stulberg
Professional KSO musicians perform side-by-side with Kalamazoo Junior Symphony student musicians in concerts featuring the Gold Medal Winner of the Stulberg International String Competition.
