KSO SELECTED FOR MUSIC ALIVE
KSO and Composer Eric Ewazen Selected for Music Alive

The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra is honored to have been selected by Meet The Composer and the American Symphony Orchestra League to participate in the seventh season of Music Alive, a program which pairs American composers with orchestras for residencies which encourage the commissioning and performance of music of our time.

Composer Eric Ewazen’s two-week residency includes many activities involving Western Michigan University, area schools, and other organizations. The centerpiece of his residency is the performance of his acclaimed work Shadowcatcherwith the KSO. Shadowcatcher was commissioned and premiered by the American Brass Quintet, and it is inspired by four of Edward Curtis’s photos of American Indians.

Award winning composer Eric Ewazen has been a faculty member at The Juilliard School since 1980. For more information on Eric Ewazen, please visit his website.
