Vertical pad selection is important in achieving a good seal against the back of trailers. Many dock doors are wider than a normal trailer, requiring the use of wedged pads. The wedge Selection Chart below will help you determine the ideal wedge size for your situation. A seal is meant to be compressed against the back of a trailer, so choose a pad size that will seal the average trailer visiting your dock (typically 8 ft - 2.44m w- wide or less).
Wedge Type: | ||||
Dock Door Size: | 7'6" (2286mm) | 8'0" (2438mm) | 8'6" (2591mm) | 9'0" (2743mm) |
*Choose a projection sufficient to allow a 4" (101.6mm) to 6" (152.4mm) compression of the pads prior to the trailer impacting the bumpers.
